Biographical statement

I have many years' experience of gallery and art education programme management and evaluation, working with art galleries and museums, schools, colleges and universities across the UK.

After ten years as a secondary school art teacher with a ceramics specialism I worked in gallery education, including at the National Gallery where I developed and managed partnerships with non-visiting London secondary schools.

Subsequently I ran the Watch this Space professional development programme for engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, facilitating partnership development between early career gallery educators and non-visiting teachers across England, introducing over 5000 young people to galleries and contemporary art.

Recently I programmed NSEAD Skills in the Making professional development programme in craft and making.

I have produced digital and hard copy resources for teachers and students on ceramics and London's Fourth Plinth sculptures.

As a freelance consultant my clients include the Crafts Council, the National Trust, Greater London Authority, Photographers Gallery, NSEAD, Artswork, The Making Crafts Development Agency, engage, Brighton Museums, Stoke Museums, Brighton Photo Biennial.

I also worked in arts in health for twelve years, in an acute hospital trust, commissioning art works, curating exhibitions, brokering partnerships, and managing staff, patient and visitor participation in all art forms.

I am a member of the NSEAD Professional Development Board and a member of the editorial board of the engage journal.

With a strong interest in contemporary design and architecture I am co-director of Foxwood Forestry, a company that promotes the use of timber in design and construction.
