Advisory work/ Curriculum Development

  • Support in curriculum development e.g. developing schemes of work, cross curricular units of work, formulating action plans, developing policies and assessment of art and support for curriculum leaders, including mentoring for new curriculum leaders
  • Preparing for Section 48 SIAMS Inspections and improving the school environment through art
  • Advising and supporting schools with special events where art will form a major component
  • Advising and training for the running of art clubs and Gifted and Talented provision.

Displays and School Environment

  • Supporting schools to improve the quality of displays through delivering training and modelling displays.

Biographical statement

I am an educational consultant and photographer. I was a primary school head teacher for 16 years from 1998 in Brent and Westminster and I am trained Section 48 Inspector (SIAMS). I have an MA in Art and Design Education and I specialise in primary art teaching, teacher and support staff training and projects of various kinds. I have been involved in delivering training for teachers for art since 1991. I have experience of teaching PGCE students at the Institute of Education University of London, providing courses for NQTs, experienced teachers and art subject leaders. I wrote regular articles for Art, Craft, Design and Technology Magazine published by Scholastic and have written training materials for the BBC. I also undertake work to help improve displays and the school visual environment.
