Professional Development
Artist Teacher Scheme
NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2008
Saturday 18 October 2008, 1000 – 1630
Tate Modern, East Room
|
Developing, sustaining and diversifying the impact of contemporary practices on the learning environment
The impact of the courses of continuing professional development contributed by the partnerships of galleries, universities and colleges of art and design to the national Artist Teacher Scheme programme has never been more noticeable or widespread. Two years ago an evaluation of the Scheme in England undertaken by the Centre for Educational Development, Analysis and Research (CEDAR) at the University of Warwick demonstrated a measurable impact both on teachers’ thinking and practice and on their students’ achievements.
Through the experience and insights of artists, academics and current or recent MA graduates, this conference will consider ways of maximising impact, factors affecting it, how it can be consolidated and broadened and, as importantly, what changes need to be developed and sustained.
