SUMMER SCHOOL for artist teachers
Tuesday 30th August – Thursday 1st September 2011
This three-day intensive course aims to further your enthusiasm for making art. The course, led by artist Sharon Wilson, will be a
chance to explore the process of making art. Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to consider their own
artistic practice and how it might be developed within a supportive and creative environment.
Sharon Wilson is a multi-disciplinary artist and curator, who uses found objects, digital imagery, drawings and sound. She is
currently undertaking a PHD at Sunderland University and is part of BALTIC freelance team of artists. She recently exhibited and
curated a show in New York and is developing a project to take artworks to show in Bejing. Northumbria University staff also teach
on the summer school.
The summer school forms an essential component of the MA Fine Art and Education and is an exciting and innovative collaboration
between Northumbria University and BALTIC. The fee for the summer school is paid by Northumbria for those students entering the MA.
It is a great taster for those thinking about undertaking the MA in future years.

Presentations will be made by current students of the MA Fine Art and Education as part of the Summer School for all artist teachers
wanting to pursue the MA Fine Art and Education.

MA LEVEL
MA FINE ART AND EDUCATION, two years, part-time
For artist teachers wanting to further or re-establish their artistic practice.
Develop your personal and professional artistic practice with this flexible part-time MA course. The course enables artist educators,
to further or re-establish their artistic practice within a supportive, innovative and creative environment, with tutorials and taught
sessions on evenings and weekends at Northumbria University and at BALTIC. Applications are welcomed from artist educators working in
secondary and primary schools, further and higher education, and visual arts education within galleries and museums settings. The MA
Fine Art and Education is delivered jointly by Northumbria University in partnership with BALTIC.
