Subject Leadership in Art, Craft and design

Cleveland College of Art, I Church St, Hartlepool TS24 7DR

Monday 23 April 2018

With the demise of local authority Art and Design advisor's and AST roles, there is a real need to offer advice and guidance to those who take on the role of subject leader in art, craft and design. There are so many challenges facing schools at present, to include the teaching, learning and progress agenda.

This day will enable you to use a range of strategies and leadership skills to move an art and design department forward. it will also help you audit current provision to ensure you have a inclusive curriculum for the 21st century learner.

The day will include:

How to create and embed a clear vision within a department;

Practical guidance of how to demonstrate departmental and student progress;

Developing leadership skills to embed clear roles and responsibilities and encourage collaborative work;

Planning for progress and data for learning tracking in light of changes to examination structures and assessing without levels;

Developing a current and creative curriculum and learning environment to promote personalised learning. Is your curriculum fit for purpose?

Raising the status of your subject in your school and community;

Ofsted and what they look for in an outstanding department;
