Art, Craft and Design is... shaping the future

The Hepworth Wakefield, Gallery Walk, Wakefield, Yorkshire WF1 5AW

Saturday 29 June 2019, 10am - 5pm

NSEAD National Conference and AGM 2019,

Why is art, craft and design important for the economy, society and ourselves?

This conference will examine how a broad and balanced art, craft and design curriculum nurtures health and wellbeing, inclusion and diversity; how our subject supports attainment, builds confidence and resilience, and is a pipeline for a wide range of career paths. We will investigate how visual literacy and personal expression equips learners to engage with the world around them.

What will you take away from this conference?

Teachers and lecturers, educators, artists, makers and designers will explore the very best inclusive practice in art, craft and design education. You will take away inspiration, information and practical ideas for excellent teaching and learning.

This conference will help you to plan and develop art, craft and design provision that meets the needs of your learners – now and for the future.

Confirmed speakers include:

Susan Aykin, Ofsted HMI and National Lead for Visual and Performing Arts

Dr Rachel Payne, President of NSEAD.

More speakers will be confirmed soon, to include practical workshops and the opportunity to view the Hepworth's collections, and a venue for an evening meal on Saturday will be decided soon.
