4.12   Pacemakers and Artificial Organs

An increasing number of disabled pupils and adults are now helped to lead normal lives by developments in microelectronics, but internal and external pacemakers and other artificial organs may suffer interference from some electrical equipment. In general people with implants will be able to use domestic electrical equipment, but it may be appropriate for their medical consultant to be approached for detailed advice in cases where high voltage equipment is to be used.
