- potential contrast/conflict between 'conformity' and ' creativity' in a 'modernist' model of art education with the artist as individual initiator/transgressor.

- values of art(s) education as implicit to 'good' citizenship - living together, etc.

- Key Skills
- ICT in art, craft and design issues
Issues centre on:
- the nature and extent of integration within curriculum practices and learning
- transformation of / arrangements and environments for art practice
- challenges for the truly 'creative' use of new technologies
(e. g. Davies and Worral - Art and design teacher education and ICT - in 'Issues', "Is there a tension between the advocacy of ICT as an integrated dimension of the art and design curriculum, rather than a discrete sub-set (multi-media, desktop publishing, time-based media, lens-based processes)?" et seq.
Information and communication technology (ICT) can be used to develop work in art, craft and design. Above all one should keep a sense of appropriateness for purpose - using ICT to enhance work, allowing students to move forward, faster and with better results.
Key Stage 3 Strategy
The ICT across the curriculum (ICTAC) pack is a set of materials designed to promote the use of ICT across all subjects in schools. It builds on the work of the Key Stage 3 National Strategy ICT strand and the ICT capability that pupils are bringing to their subject lessons from their ICT lessons. It also considers the value that ICT can add to teaching and learning in subjects and the need for a whole-school approach to develop coherent and effective practice across the curriculum.
