New Ceramics Gallery at the V&A

The first phase of the new ceramics galleries at the V&A opened on 18 September 2009. Showcasing over 3,300 objects the gallery examines the history of international ceramics and includes masterpieces dating from 2500BC to the present day. Contemporary work includes pieces by Richard Slee, Anders Ruhwald, Akiyamo Yo, Wouter Dam and Martin Smith.

The second phase of the galleries will open in 2010 to house the study collections, showcasing a further 26,000 objects and completing the scheme to create one of the world's leading ceramic resources.
