QCDA has published today (23rd July 2010), on the National Curriculum website, National Exemplification materials for the Foundation Subjects at key stage 3. They can be found at: http://curriculum.qcda.gov.uk/key-stages-3-and-4/assessment/exemplification/index.aspx
These provide teachers, (as well as parents and pupils) with annotated collections of evidence, gathered from individual pupils, which are judged to represent different levels of attainment in relation to national standards and in the context of the current secondary curriculum, introduced in 2008. They can be used to support the statutory teacher assessment of pupils at the end of key stage 3 by providing nationally agreed benchmarks and points of reference. Exemplification is provided at each level from level 3 to level 8 in all foundation subjects except ICT. Guidance on how the materials can be used is included on the introductory page to the site and it is also recommended that you read the user guide before exploring the materials; particularly important is that you ensure you have an up to date Flash player installed for the viewing of audio and video evidence.
Please note that this material is not 'APP for the foundation subjects'. Although QCDA did work with the project schools on additional material which related the exemplification to APP focuses and criteria, these remain draft and confidential and no decision has been made by the government on their publication.
