Drawing on Culture: the Influence of Culture on Children's Drawing Performance in Rural Kenya

Volume 8.1   1989

This paper documents a cross-cultural study of rural children's artistic behaviour in Kenya. It builds on two previous similar studies and the results show that change in drawing performance after infancy, is more closely associated with social influences, such as the pool of available imagery and the opportunity to draw, than it is to natural factors such as age and ability.
