Project Zero: an Introduction to Arts Propel

Volume 8.2   1989

This paper suggests that at a time of great investment in the Arts in the U.S.A. through the Getty Centre and the National Endowment for the Arts, questions need to be answered in terms of priorities and the nature of arts provision in schools. Arts Propel, an outcome of Project Zero, is one of the contributions to that debate. The 20 years of theoretical epistemological and psychological research initiated by the work of Nelson Goodman, resulted in 1985 in this multimedia project designed to document artistic learning and assess production, perception and reflection. Modules were designed and a team of assessors appointed. The project is practical and classroom focussed.
