An Islamic Art Project in Rural Humberside

This paper describes a curriculum initiative in a predominantly 'white' rural school aimed at introducing multicultural perspectives in the Arts. The Woldgate School Multicultural Arts Project was a cross-curricular initiative in art and design, RE, English and textiles and focused on the art and culture of Islam. In evaluating the project the paper sets out the practical and theoretical issues involved in developing a multicultural curriculum.
