An Interview with the Patron of the Journal

An account is given of an interview in 1981 with the sculptor Henry Moore in his studio at Much Hadham. Moore stresses the importance of enthusiastic practising artists teaching in schools and colleges of art and refers to the renaissance tradition of the artist training the apprentice. He laments the lack of sculpture taught in schools, and notes that talent in art is not equated with ability in other subjects. Nevertheless, he concludes, teachers do not train artists in school: artists have to make their own way
