Form in the Natural Environment: Fractal Computer Graphics and Wassily Kandinsky

Volume 11.3   1992

GEAKE, JOHN & PORTER, JIM

This study examines how exposure to a programme of fractal computer graphics may affect the perceptual sensitivity of primary school children to the natural visual environment. To complement their earlier extensive statistical analysis, the authors undertake a qualitative study in which children are asked for painted responses to computer fractal imagery. The paintings are analysed with reference to Wassily Kandinsky and his preoccupation with form in nature.
