Three Dimensional Work in the Primary School

Volume 4.1   1985

The author highlights a neglect of three-dimensional work in primary schools and cites the reticence of non-specialist teachers to engage with the unfamiliar. A rationale of, and for, art education is considered and practical suggestions made as to how to incorporate three-dimensional media and skills into the primary curriculum. He suggests that primary schools miss an opportunity if good practice at infant level is not built upon. He concludes with an endorsement of the importance of contextual awareness and children's engagement with art in galleries.
