The Collegiate City research project addresses some fundamental issues in the way Europeans consider the future of cities. It could extend to a consideration of how cities and education and art institutions will change in the face of the IT revolution. For, in the end, a University City is predicated upon people meeting other people for the exchange of ideas. If we are not to retire to a solipsistic corner to indulge in Internet habits, we have to assess and reinforce the values of that aspect of civilization.
