Biographical statement

Tom Hardy has worked as an art teacher in secondary schools for 32 years and has led art departments in inner city, mixed, single sex and selective schools. For the past 16 years he has been Director of the Art and Design faculty at North London Collegiate School, a department that has invariably been rated as "outstanding" in inspection reports, and has experience in delivering A Level, IB and Pre U specifications.

He has acted as mentor for PGCE and SCITT students and represented Art and Design on the QCDA KS3 Exemplification project during its life. He is currently Art and Design consultant for the Prince's Teaching Institute.

He sat on the NSEAD Council for two terms representing London and the Home Counties. He also served on the Editorial Board of The International Journal of Art and Design Education for 8 years and acted as reviews editor for 4 years. He is a frequent contributor to other publications on art educational matters.
