What does the future look like for our next creative generation?

Are young people prepared with the skills and confidence to shape their own path in life? The world and the way we understand, inhabit and navigate it, are changing and it’s the very nature of this that requires us to rethink, question and constantly challenge the purpose of creative education and way people learn today. Equipping our young people with the necessary tools for a future, which is dependent on creative talent starts in the classroom. And so, we call for creative educators to come together to set out our manifesto for change.

A manifesto for change

The Art Teacher Workshop Society: “A Manifesto” is the kickstart of a series of annual events hosted by The Northern School of Art. This first conference is co-hosted by the National Society for Education in Art & Design [NSEAD] and will explore how we prepare the next generation for creative careers. This immersive session will have delegates being hands-on with practical workshops to create an exciting manifesto for change. The session will explore:

  • What is our mission as educators?
  • How do we promote changemakers?
  • What needs to change? How can we provoke it?
  • What are our values and principles when it comes to creative education?
  • What does creative pedagogy look like and how is it evolving?

This event will take place at The Northern School of Art’s degree-level campus in Hartlepool. Delegates will have the opportunity to view our annual Degree Show, an exhibition of final project work by graduating students on the full range of BA (hons) and MA programmes offered by the School.
