Job ref – Director application

We are looking for a new Director to join us this autumn when our founder, David Tootill, retires. This is a fantastic opportunity for a new leader to further develop the UK’s only school dedicated to this beautiful, historic and resurgent art form.

Our small team includes respected figures in the mosaic community and we currently offer specialist higher education, short and community courses in all aspects of mosaic design, fabrication and history. We are also leading a significant construction development to provide new affordable artists’ studios at our vibrant site in Gospel Oak.

In addition, we have a strong network of volunteers working on numerous ongoing practical mosaic projects to enhance our local built environment and support vulnerable groups and our local community life, as well as paid-for mosaic commissions from a variety of clients.

As we scale up, the future offers even more possibility for a new leader to shape the next chapter for our school, harnessing the momentum and reputation we have already started to build.

We are looking for someone to bring a combination of leadership and management experience, financial acumen, understanding of the educational and charity contexts, a commitment to social impact and practical experience of arts or crafts.  We recognise different candidates will bring different strengths from this list and encourage anyone excited by this brief to contact us. Not having experience of mosaic-making does not rule you out, provided you could make a commitment to get to know this exciting and varied medium. We particularly welcome applications from those with diverse experiences and backgrounds.

Please feel free to contact [javascript protected email address] to arrange an informal chat to find out more or visit: www.lsomosaic.com/vacancies

To apply, please send a copy of your CV with a covering letter stating how your skills and experience would enable you to succeed in the core elements of the role.

If you are successful at this stage we will invite you to join us at the school for an assessment day.

We look forward to hearing from you.
