NSEAD Indicative Ballot
Following consultations by email, the NEU, NASUWT and NAHT education unions have launched formal postal ballots asking their members to vote for strike action next term. Our consultation was held last month, and all members eligible to take part were contacted directly by email throughout the month., along with reminders and information on our website and newsletters.
Members of NSEAD are united in their message to Government - a decade of cuts has damaged education, and our children, but the overwhelming majority of NSEAD members are not in favour of strike. Consequently, no formal postal ballot will be held by NSEAD, and our members will not be taking part in strike action.
NSEAD agree with our sister trade unions that Enough is Enough. Funding for schools and universities has been eroded year on year during more than a decade of Tory Government cuts. Support staff and teachers of minority subjects like ours are the first in line as desperate headteachers try to balance the books. Without the funding education needs, it will continue to be in crisis.
NSEAD will stand in support of those unions that do vote for strike action. Our creative community will work together to continue to make their voice heard. Strike action is powerful, but it Is not the only form of protest. Join us on the 22nd November at 6pm for an online meeting of members to discuss what strike action might mean for you, and for our subject.
