Simone Maier is an artist, educator and researcher working at the intersection of studio practice and inclusive art and design education. She currently coordinates 3D provision – sculpture, glass, ceramics, and jewellery – at WM College.
Her teaching and research examine the tensions between institutional structures and creative autonomy, with a focus on humane, dialogic studio pedagogies that value diverse forms of knowledge, experience and making.
Simone has published articles, blogs and book chapters advocating critical yet compassionate approaches to art and design education. Her work challenges deficit narratives and supports learning environments grounded in experimentation, risk-taking and collaborative inquiry.
Bringing together academic insight, hands-on studio expertise, and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, Simone keenly supports NSEAD’s role in advancing pedagogic debate, championing professional learning, and strengthening supportive communities for art, craft and design educators across the UK.
