Will Grant

HE/ITE (South West)

Dr Will Grant is Associate Director of Postgraduate Taught Studies in the School of Arts, UWE Bristol.

His career began following a BA (Hons) Illustration degree at Falmouth University, producing conceptual works for corporate clients. Studying a PGCE in Art and Design in 2011, he latterly led art and photography departments in London and Bristol secondary schools until joining UWE Bristol in 2019. After five years leading the PGCE Secondary programme in the School of Education, he moved to the School of Arts to lead across a portfolio of twelve MA courses.

His teaching and research draws on experience and empirical findings from art classrooms, including on issues of pedagogy, curricula, assessment and inclusion. Doctoral research at the University of Glasgow focused on the sustainability of prospective art educators' idealism when faced with technocratic rationale.

Alongside acting as Council Member of the National Society of Education in Art and Design, he is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, and the Royal Society of the Arts. He is a long-serving, active trustee of the Roche Court Education Trust and co-editor of the International Journal for Art and Design Education.
