Dr Janina Ramirez becomes Patron of the National Society for Education in Art and Design

NSEAD are delighted to welcome Dr Janina Ramirez as a Patron of the Society. Janina is the Director of the Certificate and Diploma in History of Art at the Department for Continuing Education at the University of Oxford. She is a cultural historian, broadcaster and author with a passion for communicating ideas about the past. Of her work, Janina says:

“As a lecturer and course director, I want to share ideas, information and inspiration with every student...I’m dedicated to embracing ideas, opportunities and advances, moving with the fast flow of modern thought.”

Janina’s enthusiasm for learning and her commitment to sharing that with learners everywhere is an inspiration to NSEAD and our members. We are honoured to welcome Janina as a Patron of the Society and moved by her commitment to the role to our work:

“I feel so honoured to have been asked to become a NSEAD patron. There is a real need for a radical reworking of how the arts are woven into education. If we are to encourage new generations of creatives across the many areas that the UK proudly excels in, then changes need to begin from primary school upwards. My work across media and academia has brought this issue to light starkly and as a mother to two primary school children myself I have never been more aware of how poorly the arts are represented across the education system. I will be a passionate and active patron, outspoken about how much the arts matter and dedicated in bringing about change.”

We are looking forward to working with Janina, uncovering unheard voices, championing our subject and sharing her limitless enthusiasm for arts and cultural learning.
