The Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Census for 2019/20

The DfE has published the teacher trainees for 2019/20 and equivalent comparisons for the previous year.

The data shows that art and design has this year and yet again not achieved its teacher supply model (TSM) target. Indeed for 2019/20 there has been a reduction in the TSM achieved. In 2018/19 art and design achieved 73% of its target. This year (2019/20) our subject reached only 69% of the target. A fall of 4%. With this news in mind we fully welcome the DfE change of policy and their decision to award our trainees a bursary for 2020-21.

We will continue to press for the next government to continue to award bursaries to all trainees and for there to be parity of status reflected in bursaries and retention grants award.
