The special interest group for Better Practice was formed in 2019. Identified as a key priority by NSEAD members, the group have collaborated to define and build guidance for better curriculum design, pedagogy and learning approaches in our subject.
The group's guidance or ‘aide memoir’, is called The Big Landscape for Art, Craft and Design Education.
The Big Landscape has now been published: it identifies and signposts the concepts, approaches and the purpose of learning in and through art, craft and design.
It was first published in the curriculum special issue of AD magazine as a large-format A2 poster titled 'The Big Landscape Atlas'. Launching 11 March 2024 The Big Landscape became an online toolkit for contemporary curriculum design.
