We are composed of art teachers in the maintained and independent sectors, and art educators in gallery, museums and teacher training. Our aims are to:

Build a collaborative learning community and encourage shared support.

Disseminate information about the current art and wider education climate, whilst promoting debate.

Link partners with NSEAD and ‘engage’ and other regional organisations.

Provide a forum for sharing good practice.

We plan to meet regularly once a term for twilight sessions and to hold occasional symposiums.

West Sussex Art Teachers (WSAT)

An independent network for Art, Design and Craft teachers from all schools across West Sussex. We welcome members from further afield if they wish to join us.

Meetings are generally held as twilights at a variety of host schools or at Pallant House Gallery. Other venues are being considered. We discuss the most burning issues that we face as we navigate our way through continuous change in education and our need to develop an Art curriculum which is relevant and accessible for all C21 learners. We enjoy sharing our skills and discussing / shaping the art, craft and design curriculum. Guest speakers will complement our emerging calendar of events.

Please join SWAT's Facebook group for more information: West Sussex Art Teachers Network (WSAT)
