Andrew Fox

Course Facilitator for Photography and Digital Media Workshop

Andrew is an education consultant, curriculum advisor and teacher trainer specialising in arts, culture, and creativity. Formerly a national Artsmark assessor, he has worked across the UK with over 2000 Primary, SEND and Secondary settings on subject, curriculum, and provision development. Between 2015 and 2022, Andrew led the arts and culture school improvement program at Birmingham Education Partnership which reached 300 schools, brokered over £2 million worth of regional and national partnerships, and led to the creation of the Creative Directory - the largest team of independent arts practitioners being available and deployed to work with schools focussed purely on subject/curriculum development and teacher training. In partnership with senior leaders and teachers, Andrew also devised bespoke arts school improvement and teacher training programs, curriculum reviews and subject development work (the most popular and successful strand of this was the Primary Art and Design Subject Development CPD program and teacher network which to date has reached 150+ Birmingham schools and led to transformational art curriculum work at primary phase in many schools in the city).

As well as working within formal education in the UK, Andrew has created teacher training programs in arts and creativity for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and also works as a researcher and advisor to cultural organisations and universities to help them connect their content, programs and outreach with formal education and the curriculum.

Through an unspectacular and dull early education ‘turned amazing and magical by two incredible art teachers’, Andrew is deeply passionate about Art and Design, its place in education, and the purpose and drive it can give to young people. Following school, he completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and a Post Graduate Diploma/Master’s Degree in Visual Communication and now, running concurrently with his work in education, he is a photographer and artist, which has led him to be commissioned by global clients and agencies in the UK, Africa, Asia and Saudi Arabia. Andrew is an Honorary Master at the International Color Awards and a Fellow at the International Black and White Spider Awards.
