How to incorporate evidence and evaluation in your work: 'The Cultural Learning Evidence Champion’s Handbook'

The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (The RSA) have published The Cultural Learning Evidence Champion’s Handbook, a new guide to evaluating arts and cultural learning. The handbook is for arts organisations, funders and schools and aims to support all professionals involved in arts and cultural learning to better use and understand the importance of sharing evidence and becoming an evidence champion.

The handbook can be used by professionals regardless of the level of experience they have in conducting evaluations.

The handbook identifies four key skills of an evidence champion:

• Sourcing and gathering appropriate evidence to design projects

• Leading and taking collective ownership of project evaluation

• Learning and collecting evidence about what you have done, the difference a project has made and how it could be improved

• Sharing and supporting peers and colleagues working across the sector to improve their evaluations

NSEAD is delighted to be part of the RSA’s Evidence Champion's Network and we're really pleased with this new publication. We believe it explains in accessible language why and how to use evidence and evaluation.

You can download the The Cultural Learning Evidence Champion’s Handbook here.

The RSA’s guide has been published as part of its three-year Learning About Culture programme, jointly funded by Arts Council England and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
