General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

On 25 May 2018 important changes to data protection will be adopted through new General Data Protection Regulations.

The Society already adheres strictly to the requirements of the UK Data Protection Act 1998 and we will be complying with the new regulations accordingly.

What is new about this legislation is that it requires the recipient of information to clearly opt -in, rather that opt-out through a tick box mechanism.

Even if, as a member or subscriber, you have already given us permission to contact you, it is important that you tell us again so we can clearly demonstrate what consent we have had from you, and when we received it.

Our data protection policy has always been never to share data with any third parties that might use that data for their own purposes, to include marketing. This will continue. If you ever think you have been contacted inappropriately, or wish to change the means by which we contact you, please do get in touch. The Society will also respect your request to have your details deleted, on request.
