Shaping the future conference...with our members and supporters

Following on from our 29 June Conference 'Art, Craft and Design is...Shaping the Future' we wish to thank our beautiful host venue, The Hepworth Wakefield, our committed and amazing members and executive boards, our president, presenters, supporting organisations and our newest patron, Keith Brymer Jones. We cannot thank you all enough for making our national conference this year so special.

Throughout the weekend we were reminded about our shared values and aims: NSEAD is a learned society and our conference was packed full of learning and learners; we’re a professional subject association, and our subject was both celebrated and debated; and we are trade union, the importance and need to protect the interests of our members and our subject was, throughout the conference, always in view.

The conference conversations and debates will continue, they must, and to help us in this endeavour, we have shared (with members) Dr Rachel Payne's amazing president’s address and notes from the gender and inclusion panel. We want to keep all three strands of our work live and invite anyone present at the conference, and anyone interested in our work, to contact NSEAD with comments, feedback and ideas. Please email us at [javascript protected email address]

We are organising a special conference issue newsletter later this month. This will be a round up of conference perspectives, presentations and workshops.

Thank you again to everyone who attended, to our hosts and to all our presenters and workshop facilitators too. Your incredible commitment and your expertise allows us to champion and represent our subject – locally and nationally – to interrogate and define best practice, and essentially look after professional interests of all those who engage with art, craft and design.

To read Rachel Payne's presidential address, visit our Research and Reports section – NSEAD members can login to download it.
