Investigating Gender Balance in the Classroom

This course is designed for teachers who are looking to explore their understanding of gender balance in the classroom. You will develop useful and adaptable strategies to take back to the classroom and assist with your professional development.

Format: This live online course will be delivered through Zoom.
 

This twilight course will focus on:

  • Investigating how gender norms manifest themselves in the classroom.
  • Exploration of unconscious bias and how to identify bias.
  • Ideas to identify and analyse unconscious gender bias in the classroom.
  • Examine how societal stereotypes have historically impacted education and teacher's expectations of students.
  • Development of strategies to address unconscious bias and create a gender inclusive classroom to foster creativity in all.

 

Through structured discussion and collaborative working you will explore your understanding of the topic and develop useful and adaptable strategies for the classroom.
 

This workshop will be underpinned by the theories of Roberts & Pinkett in Boys Don’t Try, Rethinking Masculinity in Schools. 

 

What is included?

This is an NSEAD digital live course (hosted on Zoom). These sessions will not be recorded so live attendance is essential. 

The course will provide participants with a chance to take part in workshops, share ideas and partake in open and honest conversation.
